Have you been diagnosed with osteoporosis, diabetes, lung disorders, arthritis, stroke, heart disease or depression then Jump Up and Join in, in our active program events. Our Healthy Living Program includes: -Tai Chi for Health on Mondays at 9.30am at Melaleuca Place - 166 Sibley Road, Wynnum West, ample undercover parking and air conditioned room. -Tai Chi for Health on Thursdays at 1:15pm at Wynnum Manly Leagues Bowls Club in Adam Street, Wynnum. (on the esplanade near Elanora Park) -Healthy Cooking Program and Nutritional Shopping Challenges - please support the 3rd year QUT students for there clinical placements. -Gentle walking group in collaboration with the Heart Foundation. -Lighten Up Program in collaboration with Queensland Health. Eligibility: you must have at least one chronic disease and this disease must impact on your daily living and be over the age of 55. Cost: FREE Transport: For onsite classes transport is available by bus or LANDS transport service may be able to assist. Activities are flexible with weeknight sessions and weekends as per enrolement numbers. We are able to come to you for any community group of 8 people or more with the exception of the healthy cooking / shopping challenges. At all events you have access to qualified Blue Care staff. Start: Tuesday, 14 February 2012 A 10 week course on Tuesday evenings (excluding Holy Week, April 3rd) which is part of the Indooroopilly Uniting Church adult Christian education programme, led by Rev. Dr. Geraldine Wheeler. It gives a historical and ecumenical overview of the place of the visual arts in the life and worship of the Christian churches. Date: Friday, 9 March 2012 Dr James Page will facilitate an SCM Forum to discuss a topic over which the Australian public is divided. Should Australia remain committed to the war in Afghanistan? James believes that religious issues are relevant to the debate. The SCM Forum is hosted by the Australian Student Christian Movement which, for over a century, has encouraged students and graduates in ecumenical dialogue and Christian discussion of social, ethical, theolgical and political issues. Dr James Page holds a PhD in peace studies and is active in the Uniting Church in Australia. Contact: 29 April 2012 - Cool & Classic Concert Series Date: Sunday, 29 April 2012 Kenmore Uniting Church’s popular Cool & Classic concert series is back in 2012 with more quality music at reasonable prices. Aurora Guitar Ensemble, an exciting 25 member classical guitar group, will start the series off on Sunday 29 April at 2 pm. Aurora, directed by performer and composer Paul Svoboda, has a diverse repertoire, ranging from early Renaissance music to contemporary Australian compositions, Irish folk and Latin Bossa Nova style pieces. They will include music composed by Argentinian Piazzolla, Leonard Cohen and Sting as well as original compositions from Paul. The programme will also contain solos and duets from Paul and his wife, talented Finnish flautist Outi. They have both studied and lectured in Finland and toured extensively in Europe and Asia. In the second concert, the popular Pepperazzi Jazz Band will play music from the Swing era on Sunday, 15th July and the well-known Australian Chamber Musicians will conclude the series on Sunday, August 26th in their usual stylish manner. All concerts start at 2 pm and always include delicious refreshments afterwards when the audience can meet the musicians. Season tickets are now on sale at $65 with Concessions at $50.
